“Green
Infrastructure” is the means to creating an environment that is
balanced. LAP has been involved in the preservation and creation of
many “Greenways and Trailways” throughout Michigan. From
preserving fragile sand dunes along the shoreline of Lake Michigan,
integrating the prairies, woodlands and wetlands, to carefully planning
the waterfront and tramways along the inland rivers of Michigan LAP
has been instrumental in working with community groups to blend the
recreational and non motorized transportation needs with the natural
environment.
LAP
conducts a complete inventory of the natural and cultural environment
within a community before involving stakeholders and special interest
groups. Once the inventory and analysis is complete a series of public
meetings and survey techniques are used to extract pertinent insight
from the community. This results in a clear inventory of resource and
“public need”. LAP blends these goals into a comprehensive
plan that will provide clear direction for the local governmental agencies
to follow for years to come.
In
addition to community planning, LAP is available to provide assistance
in grant writing and applications to public and private sources to fund
these projects. We also provide easement and land acquisition strategies
and can assist with the real estate transactions as needed.
