The revitalization of downtown is a common need in many towns and
cities. L.A.P. has been successful in assisting Downtown Development
Associations and Tax Increment Financing Districts to beautify and
improve the image of "Main Street" as well as the other
streets. We assist our clients by assessing the needs of downtown
and helping with the feasibility of the projects. Many times a comprehensive
master plan is required to create an overall vision to guide the community.
Cost estimates and phasing plans are usually necessary to provide
a long-term view of the projects and how the funding will be disbursed
proportionally. L.A.P. provides public presentations before community
groups, city councils, and other governmental approval agencies. Grant
applications are usually part of the funding mix for these types of
projects including the State of Michigan Department of Transportation,
Michigan Economic Development Agency, and the "Cool Cities"
Initiative. L.A.P. is well versed in assisting communities with funding
sources, grant applications, and the requirements necessary for these
types of projects.
Our projects include: streetscapes, parking lot development, parking
lot conversions, alleyways, mini parks, festival areas, river trails,
greenway development, boardwalks, refuse container enclosures and
storage, vehicular circulation plans, and parking studies. We help
clients select long term and sustainable outdoor furnishings such
as: downtown light fixtures, trees, tree guards and grates, trash
receptacles, planters, landscape areas, signs, logo identification
(branding), banners, holiday displays, and other types of public amenities.
